He was poisoned from a mushroom, his wife saved his life.

Even a mushroom kills

23-year-old Adnan Kahveci, one of the two friends who was poisoned by eating the mushrooms they picked from the forest, died of liver failure. 42-year-old Doğan Yendekoğlu, who was faced with death because his liver was failing, was saved by his wife of 16 years, Gülbahar Yendekoğlu.

They gathered mushrooms from the forest

Doğan Yendeklioğlu and Adnan Kahveci, working in the Ömerli part of the Melen project, which is under construction to meet the water needs of Istanbul, gathered mushrooms from the forest area on 18 October. The two friends, who cooked and ate the mushrooms they had gathered over the fire, got sick in the evening and were taken to the hospital. Two friends who were found to have been poisoned by mushrooms were immediately referred to the very comprehensive Marmara Training and Research Hospital. It was determined that the livers of the two friends, whose conditions were deteriorating, were affected by the mushrooms they ate.

He was making preparations for a wedding with his fiancee
Seeing that the conditions of the two friends who were poisoned by eating the mushrooms they unconsciously gathered from the forest and whose livers were failing, which was constantly deteriorating, their doctors said that their only treatment was liver transplantation. The relatives of 23-year-old Adnan Kahveci, who had just returned from the military and had been making preparations for the wedding with his fiancee, started to have an examination in order to be donors. However, none of the tissues were found suitable. When a suitable liver could not be found from a living donor, an application was made to the Ministry of Health for Adnan Kahveci for a liver from a cadaver. Kahveci, whose liver completely failed because of eating too much mushroom, died while waiting for a cadaver liver.

His wife of 16 years saved his life
Doğan Yendekoğlu’s wife of 16 years, Gülbahar Yendekoğlu, immediately became a volunteer for a donor. Preparations have started for liver transplantation to Doğan Yendekoğlu, who was referred to Istanbul Ataşehir Memorial Hospital. In the examinations, it was determined that the tissues of Gülbahar Yendekoğlu, who was a volunteer donor, were suitable. Doğan Yendekoğlu whose liver completely failed due to mushroom poisoning and his wife Gülbahar Yendekoğlu was operated by the head of Memorial Ataşehir Hospital Organ Transplant and General Surgery Department Prof. Dr. Kamil Yalçın Polat and his team on October 27. After a successful operation that lasted about 10 hours, the liver taken from Gülbahar Yendekoğlu, the mother of three children, was transplanted to Doğan Yendekoğlu.

ALL OF OUR FRIENDS COULD BE POISONED

Stating that they gathered a lot of mushrooms in the forest area, Yendekoğlu said, “We have unconsciously picked the mushrooms that grow too much in the forest area with the increase of rains. We lit a fire and ate some of it ourselves. We would take more than one bag of mushrooms to construction and give them to our friends. However, at that time, our field officer came to us. As soon as he saw the mushrooms, he said it was poisonous. We threw away those mushrooms, but we didn’t tell them that we ate it, thinking nothing would happen to us. The fact that our field supervisor was conscious about mushrooms saved all construction workers. From now on, I will never eat the mushrooms gathered from the forest, nor will I let them into our house.

I will kiss my wife’s hand everyday

Doğan Yendekoğlu, who unconsciously picked the mushrooms that came out in forest areas with the increase of rains and ate, lost a friend because of it and was saved by his wife, stated:“My wife of 16 years gave birth to our 3 precious children. For years, she was carrying the burden of our children, mine and home. Now she gave her liver to me to save my life by sacrificing her own life. I was grateful to my life partner who carried our burden for 16 years, now I am grateful once again for giving me a life again like my mother. “I will kiss the hand of my wife, who gave me life for the second time after my mother.”.

We’ve now learned that mushrooms kills

Gülbahar Yendekoğlu stated that she left her children in Sakarya and came to Istanbul as soon as she got the information that her husband was taken to the hospital after being poisoned: “I left my one-year-old son and other children to my relatives and came to Istanbul at 3 am. They said that husband was poisoned by eating mushrooms. I thought you would be cured by stomach irrigation. However, when I saw the death of a friend and his condition worsened every minute, I got very scared. Doctors told me that mushroom poisoning caused liver failure in my husband and there was no solution other than transplantation. I gave my liver to the father of my children without thinking. We will never consume mushrooms from now on. I recommend the consumers to act consciously. ”.

EVEN ONE MUSHROOM KILLS

The head of Memorial Ataşehir Hospital Organ Transplant and General Surgery Department Prof. Dr. Kamil Yalçın Polat stated that the mushrooms consumed unconsciously will lead any person to liver failure and added: “With the increase of rains in spring, plenty of mushrooms grow in forest areas. People who have no knowledge of mushrooms can be poisoned by eating them. Even a single mushroom consumed unconsciously can lead to death by causing acute liver failure. If you experience abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting after eating mushrooms, you should go to a hospital immediately. The only treatment in mushroom poisoning, which also causes loss of consciousness, is to transplant a new liver. When Doğan Yendekoğlu was brought to our hospital, his liver completely failed. We immediately transplanted his wife’s liver to him. A successful surgery was performed. Nobody should consume mushrooms unconsciously.”
